About the NUSTART programme

The NUSTART Patient Support Programme is designed for patients who have been prescribed NUCALA (mepolizumab) to help you to administer your Nucala injection independently at home.

It is a free programme, which gives you access to a team of experienced, registered nurses who are dedicated to supporting you throughout your treatment journey. They will provide training sessions to help you learn how to self-inject, and can also provide you with practical advice, point you in the direction of local services, or help answer questions you might have about your treatment or about living with your condition.

Training is virtual via telehealth video calls.

This programme is designed to work with you and your healthcare team. It does not replace the advice received from members of your healthcare team.

If you have any questions about your treatment, or do not feel confident self-injecting, our nurses are here to help.

Disposing of your sharps container

Most pharmacies across New Zealand offer a sharps disposal service for people who need to self-inject medication at home. Speak to your pharmacist or contact your local hospital to ask if you can arrange to safely dispose of your sharps container with them. Alternatively, you can also contact your local council to enquire about safe sharps disposal.
